Verdicts underway in Halifax sleepwatching case

A Dartmouth man accused of breaking into homes and watching women as they sleep in Halifax's south end has been found guilty of one count of breaking and entering.

Barry Sinclair, 50, was charged with two counts of breaking and entering and five counts of voyeurism. Justice Michael Wood is delivering his ruling on the other accusations in Halifax provincial court.

Sinclair was found guilty of one count of breaking and entering on Tuesday afternoon. In that case, his cellphone was found in a mop bucket in a woman's apartment.

The identity of the suspect was questioned repeatedly through the trial. One of the victims, a 22-year-old woman, did not pick Sinclair when she examined a police lineup. The woman said she woke to find a man in her bedroom, his mouth open as he stared at her.

Sinclair was also charged with voyeurism after Halifax Regional Police said they found a video in his dresser drawer showing women unaware they were being "watched" as they undressed.

Sinclair has been in police custody since his arrest in September 2011.

In recent years, more than a dozen women in Halifax's south end reported they woke up to find a man watching or touching them.

Hon. Rotimi Makinde picks 23 year-old beauty queen as wife

Popular actor- turned politician, Hon.Makinde, representing Ife central in the House of Representatives, has taken a new wife, with whom he is palling to walk down the aisle soon.

According to information posted on the social media, the Ife, Osun State- born political took the decision, months back after the marriage with his former wife, Bola collapsed due to irreconcilable differences.

The new lover, Oyebanke Oyelami, is the reigning Miss Osun from Iragbiji, Osun state. She is also a final year student of Political Science, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state. And is just 23. She is said to be enjoying a robust attention from the lawmaker since they met few months back.

The young and dynamic legislator who was a movie actor, producer, auto dealer, hotelier and an accountant at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, before joining politics recently stepped out with beautiful Oyebanke, the reigning Miss Osun State and this has started generating controversy in some quarters as some have said the man dumped his first wife for the beauty queen.

According to Hon. Rotimi Makinde, “There are things people don`t know and instead of minding their business, they meddle into other people`s privacy, as a matter of fact, I recognize the fact that am a public figure by my present position as a lawmaker but I also know that some facts must be put straight for future purposes.”

Speaking further, the lawmaker has this to explain: “Naturally, it is not in my habit to discuss my family especially my wife who bore me my grown up kids but just for the records, people need to know that my wife has left me ever before I got elected into the federal house of representatives and I`ve since given her the benefit of doubt for reconciliation but all were to no avail, hence my decision to move ahead and not without the consent of my children.”

Answering question on the interest in the new liaison, the lawmaker said Oyebanke Oyelami was the first lady ever that would call his bluff despite his status: “Can you believe that, it took me a while to chase this lady! I have never seen her rare type before, that’s why I didn’t waste any time when she eventually gave me the chance because I need to proof to her that, I mean serious business”, he confessed.

Terry G Declared Wanted By The Police

Nigerian singer cum producer; Gabriel Amanyi widely known as Terry G whose wife recently delivered a baby boy in London is said to be wanted by the Nigerian Police Force for a hit-and-run case in Ikeja, Lagos, penultimate Friday.

According to reports, the Apako Master was at the Club Royale, located on Oba Akran Road, Ikeja to enjoy the Friday grooves with friends when the incident happened.

Eye-witness reports that Terry G was leaving the premises of the club at the dead of night when he recklessly drove out on high speed that led him to crushing a funseeker’s leg without looking back.

The victim, whose name was given as Moshood Azeez and a regular caller at the Computer Village Market, Ikeja was rushed by good samaritans to the General Hospital, Ikeja for medical attention.

The matter was later reported at the MAN Centre Police Station, Wemabod Estate, Ikeja.
Sources claimed that Terry G has left the country for the UK without honouring police invitation to him in relation to the incident.

Investigating officer in charge of the case, Corporal Linus Reuben has declared that the police would go after Terry G anytime he returns to the country.

Ms Ngozi Braide, Lagos State PPRO confirmed the incident and she said the police will do everything to arrest the singer.
All efforts to reach the singer’s management team also proved abortive as their mobile phones were not reachable.

Tell me about your journey to the start of your music career.

I discovered I could sing at quite a young age. I started first as a song writer and as time went on I gained confidence to sing my own songs. Singing and writing and making melodies was something I was really passionate about. To further pursue my passion in music I entered for the Star Quest competition and that was were the journey began.

Getting signed on Trybe Records must have been a big deal for you. How did it come about?
I found out Trybe Records was searching for and interested in signing a female artist via Twitter, so I sent my demo and surprisingly I got a reply from eLDee indicating interest in my music and wanting me to send more. We had a meeting and things took off from there.

How would you describe your kind of music?
My style of music is Afro soul, blues, jazz, folk and swing.

What is the inspiration behind the lyrics of your songs?

I like writing about life in general and I am inspired by personal experiences as well as people’s lives and relationships. Things like freedom, love, betrayal, friendship and women’s lives as well.

When would you be releasing your first musical video and what should we expect?
The first thing we’re doing now is pushing the singles, then we can decide which to shoot a video for. In the meantime, I have the viral video for my cover of ‘Today Today”.

You play the guitar quite well. Where did you learn how to play this and are there any other musical instruments you play?
Yes, the guitar is one musical instrument I’m really passionate about. I learnt how to play while I was in the University. It really helps with my songwriting. I also play the Saxophone a little.

Tell me more about your recent single, “I Don’t Mind”. What is the message behind the song and who produced it?
My song ‘I Don’t Mind’ was produced by the very talented SizzlePro. Its a love song about two lovers whose love is not approved by the conventions of the society and I think anyone who has been through this can relate. Be it age, financial status, or anything people attach importance to, whatever it is society doesn’t approve of, this song talks about. And how the couple decide to stay together inspite of all this.

I notice that your fashion style is evolving. From the ‘good girl’ look you started off with, you are becoming more adventurous with your fashion. Tell me about this transition?
My style reflects who I am, as a person but also as an artiste. I don’t think it’s a transition though. I’m just being Aramide.

What heights do you hope to attain in your music career?

I would like to write great music, work with great artistes, and hopefully, touch lives. By God’s Grace, I will make a difference with my gift.

Your most embarrassing moment was… There was one time I went to a salon and didn’t see the sign that said ‘push’ and there I was ‘pulling’. I did that for a while before someone came to show me the sign!

You are happiest when… I’m with family and friends that show genuine love, honesty, and concern.

The most uncomfortable thing about fame is… Oh, I don’t know yet.

The most interesting thing about fame is… Making connections with people.

You’d someday love to perform with…. Corinne Bailey Rae

If you had a million dollars.. I’ll donate a large portion of it to charity and invest the rest.

Lala Anthony Hosts Pop Up Shop In Atlanta for Motives

This weekend in Atlanta was the launch of “Motives for LALA” pop up shop at the Industry studio Salon. The cosmetic line, which is a collaboration between Lala and Motive’s Loren Ridenger, focuses on the cosmetic needs of African American and Latina women and prides itself on being affordable.

LaLa was very social with fans and even helped with taking orders for those who were interested in purchasing her products. Also in attendance was LaLa’s bestie Po Johnson, her cousin Dice, her mother Carmen and her brother Diego Cash, all of which were there to show their support for her beauty venture.

Gabriel Aubry has obtained a restraining order against Halle Berry's fiance Olivier Martinez, who busted Gabriel's face during a brutal brawl on Thanksgiving ... and Gabriel's declaration (which includes graphic photos of his injuries) paints a radically different picture of what went down at Halle's on Thursday.

According to Gabriel's declaration, filed by his lawyer Shawn Holley, the day before Thanksgiving, Gabriel took Nahla to her school play. Halle and Olivier showed up and Olivier walked up to Gabriel and whispered in his ear in French, "I wish I could beat the s**t out of you right now. You're lucky we're in a school right now. We're going to take Nahla right now and you're not going to follow us."

The next day, Gabriel says he took Nahla to Halle's at around 10 AM. He says in a completely unusual move, Olivier came out of the front door -- usually the nanny was the go-between. Gabriel claims Olivier said, "We need to talk." Gabriel says he walked toward his car to close his door when Olivier jumped off the stairs and knocked Gabriel to the ground and started brutally beating him, screaming that Gabriel cost them $3 million to fight the custody war (Halle's failed move to take Nahla to Paris).

Gabriel says Olivier took his head in his hand and slammed it on the concrete driveway.

According to the declaration, as Olivier assaulted Gabriel he screamed that they were going to move to Paris and Gabriel had better move there too or Olivier would kill him.

Gabriel claims Olivier then said, "We called the cops," and that when they show up, "you're going to tell them that you're the one who attacked me, or I'm going to kill you."

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... Gabriel made no mention of the alleged threats when he spoke to police immediately after the fight.

Gabriel alleges in his declaration that Halle lost her bid to get primary custody with the judge consistently siding wiit Gabriel for a 50/50 arrangement.

Gabriel's lawyer attached photos of his injuries which are brutal.

Sources on Halle's side claim it was Gabriel who flew off the handle and started the fight.

As TMZ first reported, an emergency protective order has already been issued against Gabriel -- requiring him to stay 100 yards away from Halle, Olivier, and Nahla. We're told Halle's lawyers will go to court this week in an attempt to have the order extended
